Framed Cabinets

Framed cabinets have a traditional construction style where the cabinet box has a face frame attached to the front edges. This face frame provides structural support and serves as a mounting point for hinges and door hardware. The doors of framed cabinets are typically inset within the frame.

Within framed cabinetry there are typically two options:

Full Overlay – cabinet doors lay on top of the frame.

Inset – cabinet doors mount flush inside the frame.

Also known as face frame cabinetry, this construction method relies on a 3/4″ thick solid wood frame for stability, that is typically attached to the face of 1/2″ boxwork.
